Astir Palace Gate in danger of being demolished

I was informed today that Astir Palace Gate, which we designed in 2008, is to be demolished. The Gate has been awarded a High Commendation in the 1st World Architecture Festival, the first and perhaps the only such distinction of a project in Greece. It was nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe Prize (2009) and has been awarded a Special Mention by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture (2008). 
I wonder, is it necessary to destroy everything in our country? Is there still time to do something?

Σήμερα το πρωί πληροφορήθηκα ότι δόθηκε έγκριση για την κατεδάφιση της Πύλης του Αστέρα, έργο που σχεδιάσαμε (Sparch Sakellaridou/Papanikolaou Architects) το 2008. 
Η Πύλη έχει τιμηθεί με High Commendation στο 1ο World Architecture Festival το 2008, την πρώτη, και ίσως την μόνη, τέτοια διάκριση έργου στην Ελλάδα. Επίσης έχει τιμηθεί με υποψηφιότηταστα Βραβεία Mies Van der Rohe (2009) και Special Mention από το Ελληνικό Ινστιτούτο Αρχιτεκτονικής (2008). 
Αναρωτιέμαι είναι απαραίτητο στην χώρα μας να σαρώνουμε τα πάντα στο διάβα μας? Μήπως προλαβαίνουμε να κάνουμε κάτι?
