Odysseus' Journey
Odysseus Museum / Faliron, Athens,Greece
Invited Architectural Competition
Surface : 7.700 sqm
Design 2021
A Museum about Odusseus journey and the Sea. The plot facing the city and the horizon sets a limit between the land and the sea.
Our starting point is a mass accepting the program that you can access from three sides. A mass that ‘softens up’ as if by the gentle blow of the wind. A fluid mass that becomes itself a ‘sea with its waves’ along the diagonal that upsets the mass, forces it to raise sharply at points as if by waves or boats. The roof becomes part of the museum path. A large staircase / amphitheater leads to the belvedere / roof and the outdoor exhibition.
Inside the museum and on its roof, in the park and in the exhibited ships, the narrative of the relation of the Greeks to the Sea is being told; a narrative as old as the trip of Odysseus, a story about a horizon and a destination.
